DOH: First measles cases reported in Capital Region

The New York State Department of Health has reported the first measles cases in the Capital Region, specifically in Montgomery County. Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state disaster emergency to expand the list of healthcare providers authorized to administer vaccines as statewide cases exceed 100.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) measles dashboard is reporting cases in the Capital Region.
The dashboard, updated on October 6, shows two cases in Montgomery County. It’s the only county in the Capital Region with current cases.
Counties with the highest number of cases include Otsego (20), Seneca (18), and Steuben (14).
