Do Not Consume Notice issued for Ballyheigue PWS

Uisce Éireann has issued a 'Do Not Consume' notice for the Ballyheigue Public Water Supply due to raw water contamination. The utility warns that boiling the water will not make it safe and is providing alternative water supplies to affected residents.

Uisce ireann says no one should drink water from the Ballyheigue Public Water Supply (PWS).
The water utility has issued a Do Not Consume Notice to all consumers serviced by that specific source, with immediate effect.
This is not a Boil Water Notice so boiling and cooling the water will not make it safe to consume.
It states it is particularly important that water from the tap is not given to bottle-fed babies.
Uisce ireann is asking all commercial premises to display the Do Not Consume Notice in a prominent location.
Uisce ireann says it consulted with the HSE (Health Service Executive) when the raw water source entering the Ballyheigue PWS abnormally contaminated the drinking water.
The Western catchment regions of the Clanmaurice Group Water Scheme, which serves the townlands of Kerry Head, Ballyongane, Boolenshare,Cleandries, Cloghaneleesh, Dromnacara, Ballinclemesig and Rathmorrel is also included in the Do Not Consume Notice .
