The DMK has announced demonstrations at its headquarters in all districts on September 12, 2026, in condemnation of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s speech in the Assembly denigrating party president M.K. Stalin over his arrest during the Emergency and the torture he suffered in prison.
“He ridiculed Kalaignar, who was the Chief Minister of the State five times, Murasoli Maran, a world-renowned political expert, and M.K. Stalin, who was arrested under MISA [Maintenance of Internal Security Act, 1971], when he was just 23 and tortured in prison. The Chief Minister has ridiculed the sacrifice of our leader M.K. Stalin. His speech is highly condemnable and Tamil Nadu has never witnessed such an abhorrent speech,” a statement from the DMK headquarters said.
