DMK submits breach of privilege complaint to Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker against Law Minister Nirmal Kumar

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) filed a breach of privilege complaint with Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar seeking action against Minister for Energy Resources and Law C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar for allegedly providing false information in the recently-concluded Budget session at the Assembly about former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
The complaint was submitted by DMK MLAs M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Vasantham K. Karthikeyan, E. Raja and Kadhar Batcha alias Muthuramalingam. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in Chennai after filing the complaint, DMK Whip E.V. Velu and Mr. Panneerselvam said Mr. Kumar, violating the rules and conventions of the House, spoke against Karunanidhi in the Assembly by negatively portraying him through references to the Sarkaria Commission report .
