The DMK cadres on Saturday staged a protest in Thoothukudi condemning the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for his alleged remarks against DMK president M. K. Stalin.
The protest was held near the Chidambaranagar bus stop, and was led by Thoothukudi DMK North district secretary P. Geetha Jeevan.
The protests condemned the Chief Minister’s remarks made during his reply to the demands for grants session in Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. They alleged that they were aimed at belittling the contributions of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and the sacrifices of DMK president M. K. Stalin, who was arrested under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA).
MLAs Markandayan, K. Karunanidhi, Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor Jegan Periyasamy and several other DMK cadres participated in the protest.
