DMK MPs boycott Vijay’s delimitation meeting; Kanimozhi dubs it ‘political drama’

DMK MPs boycotted a meeting on delimitation convened by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, labeling it a political distraction from the ongoing Cauvery water crisis. The DMK maintains that the government should prioritize addressing the Mekedatu dam issue instead of discussing delimitation.
Why it matters
The boycott reflects deep-seated political tensions between ruling and opposition parties in Tamil Nadu regarding regional resource management and federal representation.
All the 30 MPs of the DMK boycotted the meeting on delimitation convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in Chennai on Saturday.
DMK parliamentary party leader K. Kanimozhi on Saturday termed the all-party meeting as nothing more than a “political drama” intended to divert public attention from the ongoing Cauvery water crisis. “When the whole State was protesting for Cauvery water with the political parties insisting the government to convene an all-party meeting on the Mekedatu dam issue, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government remained silent on the demand”, she said in a statement.
