District level Teachers’ Day programme to start early in Mangaluru on September 5
Dakshina Kannada district officials are proceeding with Teachers' Day celebrations in the morning, despite a state government circular requesting afternoon events to accommodate the launch of the 'Praja Seva' department. Local teachers requested the morning schedule to maintain traditional festive timing.

Though Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has directed that Teachers’ Day programmes be organised in the afternoon on September 5 in view of launch of ‘Praja Seva’ programmes in the forenoon , Dakshina Kannada district In-charge Minister U.T. Khader has allowed teachers to hold of the district level and taluk-level teachers’ day programmes in the forenoon.
The Mangaluru north block will host the district level teachers’ programme at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall in Mangaluru at 9 a.m. Mr. Khader will attend it. He will also attend the Mangaluru taluk level Teachers’ Day programme at 9.30 a.m. in Thokkottu.
In the district level Teachers’ Day programme, 21 teachers from lower primary, higher primary and high school will receive the district-level best teachers award. As many as 48 government school teachers of Mangaluru North Education Block, who have retired this year, will also be felicitated.
