District Judge withdraws order prohibiting litigants’ vehicles inside court complex in Vellore

Principal District Judge M. Elavarasan on Wednesday ordered the withdrawal of ban on parking of visitors’ vehicles, who are mostly litigants, inside the Combined Court Complex after the ban faced stiff opposition.
Court officials said that the ban was aimed at providing a safe and secure space for vehicles owned by advocates, court officials, and the police.
The two-day ban, on a pilot basis, was implemented after advocates and court staff reported vehicle theft, especially of two-wheelers inside the premises. “The parking ban was to prevent making the court complex as an unauthorised parking area. It was also aimed at better utilization of available space for vehicular parking,” said a court official.
