Dissolve Karnataka Assembly and face polls, Vijayendra challenges government
BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra has challenged the Karnataka government to dissolve the assembly and face elections, citing failures in supporting Dalits, backward classes, and farmers. He also criticized the government's handling of the drought situation and alleged widespread corruption.
Why it matters
The statement reflects the ongoing political power struggle in Karnataka and the opposition's strategy to leverage social and economic grievances against the ruling party.
BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra on Wednesday challenged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to dissolve the Legislative Assembly and face fresh elections if the Congress government was unable to provide justice to Dalits and backward classes.
“The people will decide,” he told reporters during the second day of the BJP’s ‘Ballari Chalo’ padayatra, which began from Sante Kallur near Maski in Raichur district.
Mr. Vijayendra alleged that the Congress had continued to neglect Dalits, backward classes, and other communities after coming to power. He reiterated the BJP’s allegations regarding the irregularities in the Valmiki corporation and accused the government of failing to implement reservation properly and provide employment to the youth.
