Discarded flowers from Ganesh immersions find second life in Cyberabad

Flowers that were offered and discarded during Ganesh idol immersions across Cyberabad are being given a second life, with the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) separately collecting the floral waste and processing it into products such as incense sticks, dhoops and diyas.

Around 6,000 kg of flowers have been collected separately from designated immersion points over the past 11 days as part of the civic body’s efforts to manage the large quantities of waste generated during the festivities.

The flowers, which are discarded by devotees as part of the immersion process, are being segregated and dried before being processed into useful products. The initiative is aimed at preventing the floral waste from being mixed with other waste at immersion points and promoting more responsible management of festival waste.
