Direct container service from Chennai to Vietnam, Malaysia, and China launched

Chennai Port has launched a new direct container service connecting India to Vietnam, Malaysia, and China. This initiative aims to boost bilateral trade and improve logistics efficiency for regional exporters.
Why it matters
Enhanced maritime connectivity is essential for India's goal of increasing merchandise trade with Southeast Asian markets.
In a boost to containerised trade and Chennai Port’s access to important Asian trade markets, HAIAN CVI, a new monthly container service, has begun from Chennai to Haiphong (Vietnam), Port Klang West (Malaysia), and Nansha (China).
The first call of the service began onboard the vessel, M.V. Haian Beta , and the route was Chennai-Port Klang West-Haiphong-Nansha, according to a press release.
This new service establishes one more regular maritime service between Chennai and Vietnam, and strengthens the Chennai Port’s links with important trade centres in China and Malaysia.
