Dipke apologises to supporters, says he could have done more to protect them

NEW DELHI: A day after the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) "Sansad Chalo" march ended in clashes with police, the party on Tuesday accused the Delhi Police of using excessive force against protesters and alleged that volunteers were beaten, dragged on roads and seriously injured during the crackdown.CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke apologised to supporters, particularly women protesters, over the alleged police action and said the party could have done more to protect them."I apologise to all our supporters, especially the girls who were brutally beaten by male police officers. We could have done better. I could have done better to protect you from the inhumane actions of the Delhi Police," Dipke said in a post on social media.Targeting the government over the protest, he alleged that "to protect one Dharmendra Pradhan", authorities were willing to use force against young protesters.
