Differently abled persons demand better monthly assistance
Members of the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers staged protests in Dindigul. They are demanding an increase in monthly financial assistance, citing higher support levels in neighboring states.
Why it matters
The protest highlights regional disparities in social welfare policies and the ongoing struggle for disability rights in India.
Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC) on Tuesday staged protests at various places in Dindigul district, urging the authorities to increase the monthly assistance.
TARATDAC members highlighted neighbouring States such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry were paying better monthly allowance. In contrast, differently abled persons in Tamil Nadu face severe hardship, they said.
Hundreds of differently abled persons participated in the protests urging the State government to increase the monthly assistance amount.
