Diana's iconic 'revenge dress' up for auction at $300,000
Princess Diana’s iconic “revenge dress” is going under the hammer for the first time in nearly three decades, giving collectors another chance to own one of the most recognisable pieces of royal and fashion history. The legendary black silk evening gown, designed by Christina Stambolian, became a global pop-culture phenomenon when Diana wore it to a Vanity Fair dinner at London’s Serpentine Gallery on June 29, 1994 - the same day her then-husband, King Charles III, publicly admitted that he had been unfaithful during their marriage.More than 30 years after that unforgettable appearance, the dress will be auctioned by Sotheby’s in New York on December 9.
