Dhinakaran questions Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s ‘silence’ over Cauvery water dispute with Karnataka
AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran has criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for his perceived silence on the Cauvery water dispute with Karnataka. Dhinakaran questioned whether political alliances are being prioritized over the interests of state farmers.
Why it matters
The Cauvery water dispute is a long-standing regional issue that significantly impacts state politics and the livelihoods of agricultural communities.
AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Tuesday (October 14, 2026) questioned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over his “silence” on the Cauvery water issue with Karnataka, though he held talks with his Andhra Pradesh counterpart regarding Krishna river water.
“Why is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. Joseph Vijay, who holds talks with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister for Krishna river water, maintaining silence over the Cauvery issue? Is the alliance [TVK’s alliance with the Congress] more important than the State’s rights and the livelihood of the farmers?” Mr. Dhinakaran questioned in a social media post.
