Dharapuram bypoll: industries in Tiruppur told to provide paid holiday on October 6

The directive applies to daily-wage, temporary and contract workers employed in the district who are registered voters in the 101-Dharapuram (Reserved) Constituency. The establishments have been asked to enable such workers to travel to their respective constituencies and exercise their franchise.
The paid holiday is mandatory under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, read with a June 8, 1957 notification of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Establishments failing to grant the holiday will face appropriate action, the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health said.
