These reforms reflect a broader effort to modernize law enforcement infrastructure and improve resource allocation within the Indian police force.
Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Tuesday reviewed a wide range of policing and administrative reforms during a Staff Officers’ Meeting, with discussions focusing on security deployment, technology upgrades, traffic management and the modernisation of the police force.
Among the key issues reviewed was the implementation of the Security Review Committee (SRC) report, including the withdrawal of superfluous security deployments made in the name of Maoist threats. Police said the exercise is expected to free nearly 400 personnel and a fleet of bulletproof vehicles for deployment elsewhere.
The meeting also discussed a Statewide audit of police manpower and vehicles and the methodology for its implementation, as well as the proposal to operate the Greyhounds and OCTOPUS units from a single campus in view of the current security scenario.
