Devotees seek removal of Mathe Manikeshwari Ashram head
Devotees of the Mata Manikeshwari Ashram staged a protest demanding the removal of the ashram's president and an investigation into alleged financial irregularities. They are calling for a transparent audit of donations and the restoration of the previous management structure.
Why it matters
The protest reflects growing public demand for financial transparency and governance accountability within religious institutions.
Devotees of Mata Manikeshwari Ashram at Yanagundi in Sedam taluk staged a protest in Kalaburagi city on Wednesday, demanding the removal of Ashram president Shivayya Swami and an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the handling of donations and funds.
The protesters alleged that Mr. Shivayya had dissolved the existing trust and constituted a new one with his nominees without the consent of its members or following due procedure. They demanded an investigation into the constitution of the new trust and the restoration of the earlier management.
“We want a transparent inquiry into the funds and donations received by the ashram and the manner in which the new trust was formed without the consent of old trust members,” devotee Shivakumar Patil Telkur said.
