The funeral of former MP Ann Widdecombe is still being prepared following her death on July 8 and her family are working with Buckfast Abbey, where she worshipped. A statement released by Fr Abbot and the Monastic Community of Buckfast has said that they "continue to hold Ann Widdecombe, her family and loved ones in our prayers during this difficult time". Joshua Kerry, a 28-year-old from Rotherham, South Yorkshire has been charged with Ann's murder and has appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with her murder. He has been remanded into custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on October 9. A provisional trial date has been listed for June 8, 2027.
