Glowing tributes were offered to former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs on his 111th birth anniversary in Mysuru on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru G. Lakshmikant Reddy, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S. Yukesh Kumar and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner M.K. Savitha were among the officials, who showered flower petals on the newly installed statue of Urs in the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Siddhartha Nagar.
Chairman of Mysore Paints and Varnishes Limited H.D. Ganesh inaugurated the 111th birth anniversary celebrations organised by the Mysuru district administration, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, MCC and Department of Backward Classes Welfare at Kalamandira in the City.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ganesh said the ideals and vision of Urs, who provided efficient and honest administration for eight years, would continue to guide the younger generation.
