Dengue cases surge in Chennai, over 3000 houses identified with aedes mosquito larvae

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has registered a rise in vector-borne diseases in some areas and has intensified vector-control activities across the city.
According to data compiled by the GCC, 3,326 houses were identified with larvae of aedes mosquitoes during checks conducted in the 15 zones of the city last week. As many as 4,029 containers were found positive for aedes larvae during the same period.
The number of dengue cases in the first three weeks of August has been estimated at 302. The number of dengue cases in June was 137 while July registered 282 cases. A total of 363 dengue cases were reported in the city in August 2025.
