Demand for special session of Karnataka legislature on caste survey
A Congress member in Karnataka, India, has demanded that the state government convene a special legislative session to discuss the socio-economic caste survey report. The report, conducted by the backward classes commission, has been delayed and proponents argue the public deserves to see its findings.

Congress member B.S. Shivanna brought up the contentious socio-economic survey ( caste census ) conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes.
On September 23, during the discussion on drought in the Assembly, he said the government of Karnataka should convene a special session to discuss the survey report of the Madhusudan Naik Commission in detail.
“The government has spent hundreds of crores to get the survey done. It should not go into cold storage. People need to know the details of the report,” said Mr. Shivanna, a follower of former chief minister Siddaramaiah.
