Delhi University students march for women’s safety as police step up school, college audits

At least 3,000 women students from Delhi University (DU) marched through North Campus on Monday (September 28), demanding safer public and institutional spaces, a week after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three men posing as policemen at Astha Kunj Park.

Students from Miranda House marched to the Faculty of Arts, where they from several colleges gathered before proceeding through North Campus.

This is the second such march organised by women students. Students of Lady Shri Ram College had staged a march on September 23, two days after the incident

All India Students’ Association’s (AISA) DU secretary, Anjali, said the Astha Kunj incident had affected the everyday lives of women on campus.
