Delhi’s AltaRasa showcases fashion by designers from across Asia

AltaRasa, a new multi-label boutique founded by Lopamudra Dutta, showcases fashion designs from across South and South East Asia. The venture aims to move beyond Euro-centric fashion by platforming designers who emphasize cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
Why it matters
The boutique represents a growing trend of promoting regional Asian design identities and sustainable, heritage-focused fashion in the global market.
Lopamudra Dutta does not recall buying clothes as a child. Her Bengali grandmother stitched clothes for her and her cousins during Durga Puja. “None of us had the same clothes. It was always very different,” says Lopamudra, adding, “I saw my grandmothers in cotton saris, chiffons and Kanjeevarams. That shaped what I thought fashion was.”
The article is a straightforward cultural feature about a new business venture.
