Delhi recalls Sarthak to Ranji squad

Sarthak Ranjan has been recalled to the Delhi Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming 2026-27 cricket season. The 16-member team will be led by captain Ayush Badoni in their opening match against Bengal.
Why it matters
The selection reflects the ongoing roster management for domestic cricket leagues, which serve as a primary pipeline for national team talent.
Sarthak Ranjan has made a comeback to Delhi’s Ranji Trophy squad for the opening game of the 2026-27 campaign. Sarthak was named as part of a 16-member contingent after the selection committee met at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Saturday. Delhi will start its campaign against Bengal in Kalyani on October 11.
The 30-year-old opening batter, who is the son of politician Pappu Yadav, had played two Ranji games for Delhi back in 2018. He was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL this year.
Head coach Vijay Dahiya, secretary Ashok Sharma and Cricket Advisory Committee chief Sarandeep Singh were also part of the meeting. Ayush Badoni will continue to captain the side while top-order batter Yash Dhull will be his deputy.
