The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to grant bail to former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Naresh Balyan in a case registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
The court held that the material collected during the investigation prima facie indicated Mr. Balyan’s nexus with an organised crime syndicate.
Justice Manoj Jain upheld the trial court’s May 27 order refusing him bail. The High Court observed that while the case was still at the stage of arguments on charge, the evidence placed by the prosecution was sufficient, at this stage, to justify the invocation of MCOCA.
