A Delhi court has expressed disappointment over the conduct of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in contesting bail applications after its officials failed to specify evidence linking an accused to a case.
Hearing the bail plea of the accused, Special Judge Jitendra Pratap Singh directed the NCB zonal director to furnish an explanation on the agency's insufficient response in countering the plea.
In the order dated July 30, the court said that neither the original investigating officer nor the case handling officer had been able to specify the material that directly connects the applicant or accused to the alleged offence.
“With great reluctance, this court is expressing its disappointment as to the conduct of the affairs of the agency in contesting the bail applications.
