Delhi CM requests Rs 100 crore for PM-UDAY scheme: Why it matters

Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta has sought Rs 100 crore in central assistance for the first phase of the Pradhan Mantri Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY), a scheme aimed at granting property rights to residents of 1,511 unauthorised colonies across the national capital.In a letter to Union housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal, Gupta said the Revenue Department, the nodal agency for implementing the scheme, will establish dedicated PM-UDAY cells in all 13 districts of Delhi. Each cell will be headed by an Additional District Magistrate (ADM), according to PTI.Of the proposed allocation, Rs 65 crore has been earmarked for a DRISHTI-based modern land survey and mapping system, which is expected to improve the accuracy and transparency of property records. Another Rs 25 crore will be used to set up PM-UDAY cells to facilitate the issuance of property-related documents and authorisation letters within the scheme's prescribed 45-day timeline.The remaining Rs 10 crore has been proposed for awareness campaigns, including workshops with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), public outreach programmes and help desks to assist residents with the application process.The implementation plan also includes updating land records, carrying out digital mapping using modern survey technologies and conducting physical verification of properties across all 1,511 unauthorised colonies.According to the chief minister, timely financial support from the Centre will help expedite the regularisation process and enable millions of residents to secure legal property rights more efficiently.Ready to Make a Smarter Property Decision?
