Delhi Assembly repeals B&B law; new policy to allow deemed approval within seven days
The Delhi Assembly has repealed the existing bed-and-breakfast law, paving the way for a new policy that introduces self-certification and faster approval timelines. Additionally, the assembly passed legislation to expand slum rehabilitation criteria and update fire service regulations.

The Delhi Assembly on Tuesday passed a Bill to repeal the existing law governing the functioning of bed-and-breakfast (B&B) facilities nearly two months after a fire at one such facility in Malviya Nagar killed 23 people, including several foreigners. Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who tabled the Bill, said the government will bring a new law to govern B&Bs.
Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra had last week said that work is under way on the ‘Delhi Bed & Breakfast Policy, 2026’, whose draft was placed in the public domain on May 26.
It proposes a self-certification and self-renewal framework with “deemed approval” within seven working days, down from 30 days in the 2007 law.
