The Economic Finance Committee (EFC), chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Tuesday approved a 4.5-kilometre-long, ₹263-crore drain to protect four Assembly constituencies, including Kirari, from waterlogging. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027, according to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

“This is not merely the construction of a drain, but a major step towards providing better drainage and safer mobility to lakhs of people living across the four Assembly constituencies,” Ms. Gupta said, as per the release.

Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control Parvesh Sahib Singh and senior officials of the department were also present at the EFC meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat.
