Residents of Sevandhi Pillaiyar Koil Street in Woraiyur, Tiruchi, have been facing hardship due to delays in the construction of a stormwater drain. Although the road was dug up around 10 days ago for the project, the pace of work has remained slow, causing inconvenience to residents.
The dug-up road has made it difficult for people to step out of their homes and carry out their daily activities. Senior citizens and schoolchildren are among those worst affected as navigating the dug-up stretch has become unsafe.
The street had been without a stormwater drain for several years and the project was taken up under the Corporation’s budget allocation for the construction of new stormwater drains. The work covers a 120-metre stretch of Sevandhi Pillaiyar Koil Street and includes the construction of two culverts.
