Deep Earth model traces 270 million years of seamount formation across oceans

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed a new model to explain the formation of over 40,000 seamounts across the ocean floor. The study refines the classical mantle plume hypothesis by using 270 million years of Earth's interior dynamic data.
