Deep depression in Bay of Bengal may bring heavy rain to A.P. from Sept. 23

A low-pressure area over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining regions has moved west-northwestwards and now lies centred over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, according to Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA).

The system is likely to move further west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal by Monday and into a deep depression over the west-central Bay by Tuesday. It is expected to move towards the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts by Wednesday morning.

Under its influence, scattered heavy rain is likely in Andhra Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday, with the intensity expected to increase on Wednesday and Thursday. Isolated areas may receive heavy to very heavy rain during the latter period.
