Karkala MLA and former Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar on Wednesday urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to take a decision at the Cabinet meeting scheduled in Mangaluru on September 18 to declare Tulu as the second State language.
By submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister in Bengaluru, the former Minister said that when the last BJP government was in power, it formed a committee headed by M. Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, to study the possibilities of giving Tulu the status of an official language.
