Debris clearance drive to begin today
The Greater Bengaluru Authority has launched a month-long debris clearance campaign titled 'Just Clean Bengaluru' to remove over 22,000 tonnes of waste. The initiative involves multiple city corporations and will eventually target legacy waste on vacant sites.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will inaugurate the debris clearance drive on Saturday under the ‘Tyajyadinda Swantantra’, or Freedom from Waste campaign launched by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
Mr. Shivakumar, along with Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, will launch the drive at Hebbal Junction on Ballari Road in north Bengaluru. As part of the campaign, titled Just Clean Bengaluru, the five Bengaluru corporations will undertake the removal of only inert debris.
According to GBA data, about 22,732 tonnes of debris has been identified within the GBA limits.
However, the Minister on Thursday said that he estimates more than one lakh tonnes of waste has accumulated on the city’s streets.
