DCI recommends charges on cops behind Dr Mutiso Mlolongo eviction

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters /FILE A group of police officers who supervised an eviction from the Mlolongo controversial land linked to the murder of psychiatrist Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso are likely to face charges including malicious damage to property.

The officers from the local station had been under investigation over the manner in which they handled the February eviction sparking a series of events that led to the murder of Mutiso.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has recommended the prosecution of the officers alongside auctioneers who participated in the exercise, officials said.

Others will face stealing charges if the prosecution approves the proposed charges.

Mutiso, a former Director of the African Institute of Mental and Brain Health, was fatally shot on July 29, 2026, in Upper Hill, Kilimani subcounty, Nairobi, while inside a motor vehicle.
