It has been the most challenging week of Moyes's second spell at Everton after the summer transfer window ended in a chaotic fashion . The Scot was left hugely disappointed to be left with 18 outfield players, a figure which includes one right-back, one left-back and a striker.
When Moyes returned to Everton in January 2025, with the club threatened by relegation, he wanted to stabilise then build a successful team, but the club almost sold young midfielder Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest and failed to recruit a striker despite sounding out numerous targets.
