Daughter ostracised from family after father’s sexual assault
A man has been sentenced to over two years in prison for sexually assaulting his daughter, who has since been ostracized by her family. The court heard that the victim suffered significant mental health impacts and isolation following the abuse.

A young woman has been ostracised from her family after revealing she was twice sexually assaulted by her father, with her mother telling a jury he was the breadwinner.
In June, the man, in his 50s, was found not guilty of his most serious charge of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, and the jury was hung on three other charges, but convicted him on two charges of sexual conduct with a child under 16.
He reappeared in the Hamilton District Court for sentencing this month week before Judge Stephen Clark, where he maintained he’d done nothing wrong.
