Daring robbery attempt on women in Narikudi

Two women were injured during a failed gold chain snatching attempt by four men on motorcycles in Narikudi. Police have arrested one suspect and are actively searching for the remaining three.

In a daring robbery, four persons allegedly attempted to snatch a gold chain from two women travelling on a motorcycle near Narikudi on Saturday forenoon.
The two women sustained injuries after the rider, Madhumitha, lost control of the motorcycle and fell on the road along with the pillion rider, Kalaiselvi.
The police said the women, who are from Ulakkudi, were travelling to Tiruchuli when they were followed by four persons on two motorcycles.
While the women were passing a petrol bunk on the outskirts of Narikudi, one of the accused allegedly attempted to snatch Kalaiselvi’s gold chain. However, Kalaiselvi held on to the chain and thwarted the attempt.
In the ensuing struggle, the two women fell off the motorcycle.
