Dalit leaders threaten of stir if allocation of DC Manna land is delayed

Dalit leaders have threatened of protests if the State government fails to start the process of allocation of DC Manna (depressed classes) land to families of SCs and STs in Dakshina Kannada in a month.
Talking to reporters, Dalit leader Ashok Konchady said for the last three decades, the SCs and STs have been fighting for allocation of more than 190 acres of DC Manna land in Dakshina Kannada. For long, guidelines for allocation of the land has been pending clearance from the government. When the State Cabinet failed to take any action during its meeting in Mangaluru on September 18, the Dalit leaders gave a call for protest.
