Manila Bulletin - DA declares Quezon free from bird flu
LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Department of Agriculture (DA) has declared Quezon province free from avian influenza or bird flu.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel formalized the declaration in Memorandum Circular No. 45, Series of 2026, dated Sept. 24.
The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) said that the declaration is crucial for the continued safe and orderly production and trade of poultry and poultry products in the province.
It also demonstrates the ongoing implementation of measures regarding disease surveillance, biosecurity, and other programs aimed at maintaining animal health and protecting the livelihoods of poultry raisers, PVO added.
Quezon recorded bird flu cases early this year. Measures were conducted and confirmatory tests yielded negative results.
