CWC Member Gidugu Rudraraju demands resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar
Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh have demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, citing a lack of transparency in the electoral process. The protest involved rallies and dharnas to express public distrust in the current leadership of the Election Commission.
Why it matters
It reflects the broader, coordinated political campaign by the Congress party to challenge the credibility of the Election Commission of India.
Former AP Congress Committee president and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Gidugu Rudraraju and All India Congress Committee secretary Janga Goutham on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for allegedly failing to guarantee transparency in the electoral process.
Led by Mr. Rudraraju, the Congress leaders took out a rally and staged a dharna at the Clock Tower in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, condemning the alleged role of Mr. Gyanesh Kumar in weakening the electoral process in recent years across the country.
