Across neighbourhoods from Anna Nagar to Goripalayam, brief downpours routinely trigger severe waterlogging, bringing vehicular movement to a grinding halt.
Substandard blacktopping and chronically poorly designed drainage networks mean rainwater has nowhere to escape, stagnating on surfaces and actively eroding the asphalt within days of being laid.
