Cultural performances, traditional dances mark start of Vijayawada Utsav 2.0
The Vijayawada Utsav 2.0 festival has officially launched at Punnami Ghat, featuring cultural performances, traditional arts, and a National Saras Mela. The event aims to promote local tourism, economic opportunities for small traders, and the cultural heritage of the region.
Why it matters
The festival serves as a platform for regional economic development and the preservation of traditional Indian art forms through government-backed tourism initiatives.
The Vijayawada Utsav 2.0 began in grand style at Punnami Ghat on the banks of the Krishna river on Sunday. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the festival by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Organised by the Society for Vibrant Vijayawada with the support of the State government and Tourism department, the festival is being held on the initiative of Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni).
Colourful cultural performances, traditional dances and programmes promoting fading art forms attracted visitors. Mr. Sivanath said the festival aimed to showcase Vijayawada’s hospitality, culture, traditions and spiritual heritage nationally. He described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s letter appreciating the festival as a matter of pride.
