Students of the Central University of Kerala (CUK) have temporarily called off their protest following discussions with the university Registrar on Friday (October 9). Student representatives said the university had agreed to form an inquiry committee to examine their grievances and had accepted their demand to exclude proctor Sreekumar from the panel.
The protest was launched after five students were suspended by the proctor for protesting during a national seminar organised at the university to mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram . The students staged a protest demanding, among other things, the withdrawal of the suspension orders.
