Cross Island Line to get 4 new stations linking Taman Jurong and western industrial estates by late 2030s
Singapore's Transport Minister announced the addition of four new stations to the Cross Island Line, set to open by the late 2030s. The project aims to improve connectivity for residents in Taman Jurong and workers in western industrial estates.
Why it matters
This infrastructure expansion is a major development for Singapore's urban planning and public transport resilience, significantly reducing commute times.
The third phase will take the Cross Island Line's total length to about 67km, making it Singapore's longest fully underground MRT line.
