On Wednesday, the Auckland community was thrown into chaos following a series of violent events which unfolded shortly after 7am. The incident left a woman assaulted, three teenage cyclists injured and a dog killed. All three cyclists were teenage boys from Auckland Grammar. They were hospitalised in critical, serious and moderate conditions. Yesterday, 1News reported two of the boys <a href="https://www.1news.co.nz/2026/08/06/epsom-rampage-carjacking-victim-says-attacker-completely-nonsensical-erratic/">had been discharged</a> from hospital. Today, police said the boy who was critically injured remains in hospital. The family of the critically injured boy asked for privacy. A 49-year-old man facing 17 charges relating to the event <a href="https://www.1news.co.nz/2026/08/06/seymour-violent-rampage-leaves-epsom-community-touched-by-tragedy/">remained in Auckland City Hospital</a> overnight under police guard.
