The Coimbatore Corporation organised a cricket match at the multi-sports turf at Kumarasamy Lake in R.S. Puram on Thursday (October 1, 2026) to raise awareness about dengue prevention.
The match began with the players taking a pledge on dengue prevention. The two teams represented the Aedes mosquito and public health measures. Posters depicting common mosquito breeding sources, including coconut shells, discarded tyres, and containers, were displayed at the venue before the match.
The public health team batted first after winning the toss. The Aedes mosquito team chased the target.
The Corporation said the initiative attracted young people and helped spectators learn about dengue prevention and the importance of eliminating potential mosquito breeding sources.
