The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Polit Bureau on Thursday (September 10, 2026) denounced the move of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) asking the Kerala Police to register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, against Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former Public Works Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas, and T. Veena , Mr. Vijayan’s daughter and Mr. Riyas’s spouse.

In a statement, the CPI(M) said it was “evident from the outset” that the investigation against Ms.Veena was ‘only a pretext’ to target the then Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. “This is typical of the way the Central agencies are being used by the Modi government to target Opposition leaders,” it said.
