CPI(M), PDP condemn killings by security forces in POK

Political leaders from the CPI(M) and PDP have condemned the recent violence and killings by security forces in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. They are calling for a peaceful, constitutional resolution to the grievances of the local population and an end to the use of force.
Why it matters
The statement underscores the volatile political situation in the Kashmir region and the ongoing humanitarian concerns regarding civil unrest.
The CPI(M) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed concern in Srinagar on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) about continued repression and killings by security forces in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) over the past 24 hours.
“I stand with the people of Pakistan‑administered Kashmir — their demands are just: end harsh economic policies, restore fair governance, and protect democratic rights. The deaths and injuries in Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli are a painful reminder that grievances met with force only deepen the crisis,” said CPI(M) leader and legislator M. Y. Tarigami.
Pointing to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ruling on the 12 refugee seats he added that “this struggle must be resolved constitutionally and peacefully — through dialogue, not repression”. “We express solidarity with families of the fallen. We call for accountability, relief for affected communities, and a political solution that honours rights and dignity,” Mr. Tarigami said
